Frequently asked

What is structured data (schema markup)?

Structured data is code (JSON-LD) that describes your page to search engines, that you're a Product, an Article, a LocalBusiness, an FAQ. It powers rich results (stars, prices, FAQs) and helps AI engines understand and cite your content.

What does this tool check?

It finds every JSON-LD block on the page, lists each schema type, and checks it against Google's own feature guides: missing required properties, values outside Google's limits, wrong enums, and types Google retired (HowTo, ClaimReview and others). Google requires nothing for Article, so an Article is never failed for a missing author.

Does valid schema guarantee rich results?

No, valid markup makes you eligible, but Google decides when to show rich results. Fix the required-property issues here, then confirm in Google's Rich Results Test before you rely on it.

Which types matter most?

Organization and WebSite site-wide, then page-type schema: Article/BlogPosting for content, Product + Offer for e-commerce, FAQPage for Q&A, BreadcrumbList for navigation, LocalBusiness for physical locations.
